Religious complexities

India is a land of culture. Varied colours extend to all spheres of the society including language, customs, festivals, and the big dividing factor - religion.
The west still looks at us as being culturally sound which they lost somewhere down the line. But are we headed in the same direction? With my generation and its very different views, I was of the opinion that we would never end up with the same problems. Yet, i keep hearing and reading newer and weirder issues which always ends up being about gods and religions. I just read this ndtv article below.

Hindu deities have PAN cards, are demat accounts next?
Hindu deities have PAN cards, are demat accounts next?
Mumbai:  Can Hindu deities have demat accounts to enable them transact in shares and debentures on the stock market?

The Bombay High Court will decide on the issue after a religious trust filed a petition challenging the decision of National Securities Depository Ltd (NSDL) to refuse it permission for opening demat accounts in the names of five Hindu deities.

"When the Income Tax department has issued PAN cards to these five deities, why should not NSDL allow opening of demat accounts in their names," the trust asked in the petition, which is likely to come up for hearing later this week.

The deities of the Sangli-based trust "Ganpati Panchayatam Sansthan" are Lord Ganesh, Chintamaneshwardev, Chintamaneshwaridevi, Suryanarayandev and Laxminarayandev.

The trust, belonging to the Patwardhan family, the erstwhile royals of Sangli, had obtained PAN cards in the names of deities in 2008.

I mean is this even an issue we should be talking about? Permanent account numbers and demat accounts, online share trading? Really?

I fear to think this is not about beliefs any more. This is not about a way of life  that the bhagwad gita tries to tell us about. This is just a corrupt society trying to find ways to shatter the few beliefs left now. It going to get worse down the line.

It doesnt look good. Hope I dint hurt any sentiments there!
